Layout changes
Keeping the toilet, shower and sink where they are is the biggest saver. Moving drains and supply lines adds plumbing work and sometimes a permit.

Before, during and after
The finish is what you see. The waterproofing, slope and tile setting underneath are what keep it beautiful for years.
Walls and floor sealed with a waterproofing membrane over a sloped mortar base, so water only goes one place: the drain.
Hex mosaic laid on a properly sloped bed, so the shower drains cleanly every time.
Levelling clips keep big porcelain tiles flat and aligned, with tight, even grout lines.
Frameless glass, clean lines and a shower built properly from the membrane up.
Cost factors
Every bathroom is priced on its own scope. These are the decisions that make the biggest difference.
Keeping the toilet, shower and sink where they are is the biggest saver. Moving drains and supply lines adds plumbing work and sometimes a permit.
More floor and wall tile means more material and labour, especially for floor-to-ceiling tile.
Large-format tile needs very flat walls and floors. Herringbone, mosaics and natural stone take longer to install.
Curbless showers need the floor recessed. Custom frameless glass costs more than a standard door.
Custom or double vanities, quartz tops, thermostatic valves and rain heads all add to the budget.
Adds the heating mat, a thermostat and a dedicated circuit, and it's one of the most loved upgrades.
A properly sized, quiet fan vented outside, sometimes with new ductwork.
Rotted subfloor, old leaks or outdated plumbing found once the walls are open.
Work hours, elevator bookings and approvals affect scheduling and cost.
